Creation of the Embryo between the Quran and Science

Creation of the Embryo between the Quran and Science

creation-of-the-embryo-between-the-quran-and-scienceMany are the people who doubt the origin of the Quran, and ascribe it to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) although both the Qur’an and Muhammad have constantly disclaimed this allegation.

The Quran is not a trespass. It is as meritorious and invaluable as that anyone will be keen to have the honor of ascribing it to him/herself.

Yet, the incontrovertible facts and the matchless commandments mentioned in the Quran are enough for a person to claim the Quran for himself.

However, the Quran states that it is a word of God not of Muhammad or anyone else, and if its presumed that Muhammad claimed it for himself, the Quran says,

And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings, We would have seized him by the right hand; Then We would have cut from him the aorta. And there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him. And indeed, the Quran is a reminder for the righteous. (Al-Haqqah 69:44-48)

The Quran is divine. This is the absolute undeniable truth.

The video at hand sheds light on one of the miracles mentioned in the Quran, first resisted by scientists but finally admitted by the most trusted ones among them based on the latest scientific discoveries.

The video discusses the early stages of the creation of a human and how the Quran accurately described this process in detail that stunned the physician and biologists.

It tells us that the sperm, which is the earliest stage of the creation of a human, turns into a clot, then a lump of flesh, then the bones is created and be covered with flesh and finally the embryo takes the normal human form. The Quran reads,

And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging. Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah , the best of creators. (Al-Mu’minun 23:14)

An Aspect of the Qur’an’s Miraculous Nature

An Aspect of the Qur’an’s Miraculous Nature

Miraculous Nature of the quran

To qualify a scripture as divinely revealed, it must be totally accurate in its descriptions of reality: the past, the present and the future.

By Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips

To qualify a scripture as divinely revealed, it must be totally accurate in its descriptions of reality: the past, the present and the future. The Qur’an has many stories about previous Prophets and their peoples. Some of these stories have elements in them that can be checked out for their accuracy.

One example of the Qur’an’s precision in its historical descriptions is in the story of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), who was sold as a slave in Egypt, but rose to become an important official in the government, which made it possible for him to bring his whole family to live there in honor.

Most historians agree that the entry of the Children of Israel into Egypt occurred when the northern half of the country was ruled by the Hyksos, Semitic invaders who were the first non-Egyptians to rule that country since the rise of the Old Kingdom. The Qur’an always calls the Egyptian ruler who confronted Moses by the title of “Pharaoh.” Every Egyptian ruler was called by this title starting from the reign of Amenhotep IV in the 14th century BC, but not before that. Yusuf lived at least two hundred years before Amenhotep IV. The Qur’an consistently refers to the ruler in Joseph’s time, as “Al-Malik,” the king:

The king [Al-Malik] said, ‘Bring him to me. (Yusuf 12:50)

It should be noted that the Bible refers to the ruler of Joseph’s time as “Pharaoh,” which was an anachronism inserted by the scribes who wrote the books of the Old Testament centuries after Moses.
This part of the chapter is based on Dr. Maurice Bucaille’s book “Moses and Pharaoh. The Hebrews in Egypt”

Scientific Miracles in the Qur’an

Scientific Miracles in the Qur’an

If anyone were to search in a library or on the internet about the recent scientific findings as to the origin and development of the universe, they will definitely come across the Big Bang Theory and the expansion of the universe. As Muslims, we believe that these are correct because the Qur’an told us 1400 years ago about that. Almighty Allah says,

Haven’t the disbelievers considered that the Heavens and the Earth were a joined entity and We separated them… (Al-Anbiya’ 21:30)

And the Heaven we created with great strength and indeed We are its expander.  (Ad-Dhariyat 51:47)

The Atmosphere/Ozone Layer

Science has recently uncovered that there is a protective barrier between the Earth and the immediate sky. It serves to protect us from burning and deadly UV-rays, and small meteors. This reality was not even discussed by the scientists and philosophers at the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Yet, the Qur’an said it as clear as a scientist would do today.

And we made the sky a protective ceiling… (Al-Anbiya’ 21:32)

The Sun, the Moon and Celestial Bodies

When the Qur’an was revealed, there were hundreds of ideas and theories as to the reality of the Sun and the Moon. It was recently discovered that the moon and the earth go through orbits, and that the earth goes around the sun. The latest advancement is that the sun orbits our galaxy which also has its own orbit. Allah (glory be to Him) clarified this issue in the Qur’an centuries before the modern science and technology.

…the sun and the moon; all heavenly bodies are swimming in an orbit (circular motion). (Al-Anbiya’ 21:33)

The Lowest Point on Earth

If you look up “the lowest point on the earth” in any geography book or on the internet, you will find a unanimous decision that it is the land surrounding the Dead Sea. All of the early commentators of the Qur’an exegesis said that a battle took place after the Persians invaded deep into Byzantine Levant (modern day Syria, Jordan, Palestine). The commentators as well as non-Muslim historians specified that the battle took place in a land called Azriyat, which was close to the northern tip of the Dead Sea. It is interesting to see that the commentators, centuries ago, argued and disagreed as to why Allah (exalted be He) used the word “the lowest” referring to this place. Now, science has informed us what Allah meant. Almighty Allah says,

“The Byzantines have been defeated in the lowest of the Earth (Adnal-Ard)… (Ar-Rum 30:2-3)

The Uniqueness of the Fingerprint

Allah, the Almighty, tells us in the Qur’an that when resurrecting everyone from their graves, Allah puts them back as they were before dying. He emphasizes by ascertaining that He can even perfectly proportion the finger tips. In the modern world, it is well-known in the science of human identification that the finger print is the one unique factor in differentiating between people. Therefore, to say we can put them back together is one thing, but even to the very fingerprint is a claim to perfection which only Allah can make. This was revealed 1400 years ago. Allah says,

Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? Yes. We are able to proportion him to his fingertips.(Al-Qiyamah 75:3-4)

Iron as a Metallic Element Sent Down from Above

Almighty Allah says,

“…And We sent down iron in which there lies a great force and which has many uses for mankind…” (Al-Hadid 57:25)

The word “anzalna,” translated as “sent down” and used for iron in the verse, could be thought of having a metaphorical meaning to explain that iron has been given to benefit people. But, when we take into consideration the literal meaning of the word, which is, “being physically sent down from the sky”, as this word usage had not been employed in the Qur’an except literally, like the descending of the rain or revelation, we realize that this verse implies a very significant scientific miracle. Because, modern astronomical findings have disclosed that the iron found in our world has come from giant stars in the outer space.

One scientific source provides the following:

“There is also evidence for older supernova events. Enhanced levels of iron-60 in deep-sea sediments have been interpreted as indications that a supernova explosion occurred within 90 light-years, about 5 million years ago.”

This shows that iron did not form on the Earth, but was carried from Supernovas, and was “sent down,” as stated in the verse. It is clear that this fact could not have been known in the 7th century, when the Quran was revealed. Nevertheless, this fact is related in the Qur’an, the Word of Allah, Who encompasses all things in His Infinite Knowledge.

The Miraculous Nature of the Qur’an

The Miraculous Nature of the Qur’an

The Miraculous Nature of the Qur’an

The Qur’an is miraculous in the sense that it is has been proven to be above the ability of man to recreate something like it.

The Glorious Qur’an is the miraculous word of Allah revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the Arabic language via Gabriel, the Angel of revelation also known as the Holy Spirit (16:102). These miraculous words were recorded in a book that was transmitted by “Tawatur”. This means that it was memorized to the letter as well as having written it down by hundreds of memorizers. Then, they passed it by memory and in writing to the next generation of thousands of memorizers. These thousands of memorizers passed it (hand written as well as by exact memory) to the next generation of hundreds of thousands of memorizers and so on.

This system guaranteed the preservation of Allah’s revelation and its transmission exactly as revealed to the Prophet. Because of this comprehensive familiarity each generation had of it, no one ever doubted one word of its authenticity.

The recitation of the Qur’an is rewarded and is considered an act of worship, rather than reading the text of the Hadiths of the Prophet (peace be upon him). This is because they are the actual words of Allah while the Hadith is the guidance of Allah in the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

When we talk about a miracle, we are referring to an extraordinary event or action which bypasses the laws of nature or ability of man. The Glorious Qur’an is miraculous in the sense that it is has been proven to be above the ability of man to recreate something like it, hence it is inimitable. In addition to that, it contains many scientific facts that were detailed centuries before man had any knowledge about them. It includes many fulfilled prophecies that were proven true, as well as historic facts.

Allah supported each of His Messengers with miracles in order to make people believe that they are Prophets chosen by Almighty Allah. These miracles were usually concerning something known to the people.

The Prophet Muhammad’s people were very famous for their eloquence in the Arabic language, especially poetry. Therefore, the Holy Qur’an (which is considered prose) was Prophet Muhammad’s main miracle to his people. Nevertheless, there were other physical miracles like the famous splitting of the moon mentioned in Surat Al-Qamar (55:1) as well as many others narrated in authentic Hadiths. In no less than three places, the Qur’an challenges the Arabs and all mankind to produce something similar to it. Until now, many people have tried so. Yet, the result has been failure in each case.

Almighty Allah challenges them saying:

Say: If mankind and jinn were together to produce the like of this Qur’an, they could not produce the like therefore, even if they helped one another. (Qur’an 17: 88)

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was an illiterate man (see 7:157) who came with the most sublime and eloquent book, to the extent that he was able to convince thousands of Arabs upon hearing a few verses from the Qur’an. Then, it would change these people one-hundred and eighty degrees. For example; The Arab society was polytheistic but the Qur’an taught them monotheism, the Arab society was generally without law or policy but the Qur’an taught them how to follow a detailed specific code of law and outlined consequences for breaking them, the Arabs were about 90% illiterate and the first verse revealed was “Read! In the name of your Lord” and within 50 years of its being revealed the literacy rate of Arabs was more than 50%.

There have been ridiculously false claims that Islam is just the result of a mixture of Judeo-Christian beliefs that praise old Arab practices. First of all, the Jewish tradition says that Jesus was a false Messiah, Prophets committed major sins and that Allah rested after creation. The Qur’an holds that Jesus was the blessed Messiah, that Prophets never committed a major sin and that Allah did not rest after creating the universe. Christian theology says that Allah is a trinity, that Jesus is divine, and that there is no need for the law. The Qur’an says that Allah is not a triune Allah but purely One, that Jesus is no more than a blessed Prophet of Allah who was created by Allah, and that the law was and always will be the base for our code of life. The Arabs gambled a lot and consumed alcohol and the Qur’an specifically outlawed these things. The Arabs were highly superstitious and the Qur’an taught that everything happens by the will of Allah. The Arabs were very tribal people with no law or order and the Qur’an unified all of these warring tribes as Muslims under the law of Allah and we can go on and on. This Qur’an went against the fabric of the Arab society and single handedly convinced the whole of Arabia to conform to its standard within 22 years. This is a miracle. Allah says:

And if you are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down to Our servant (Muhammad), then produce a Surah (Chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses besides Allah, if you are truthful. But if you do can’t, and you will never do it, then fear the Fire whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers. (Qur’an 2:23-24)

In fact, no one was and will never be able to meet this particular challenge.

The people of Jesus (peace be upon him) were evolved in medicine; so Jesus’ miracles were of a medical nature. By Allah’s Help, Jesus healed the blind and the lepers by touching them, even more than that he brought forth the dead. Allah, the Almighty, says:

And Allah will say (on the day of judgment). O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My favor to you and to your mother when I supported you with Gabriel so that you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and remember when I taught you the Torah and the Gospel, as well as the prophetic wisdom in order for you to explain it to the them. Then by my permission you made a figure like unto a bird out of clay, and by My Permission you breathed into it, and it became a bird by My Permission, and you healed the lepers and those born blind and by My Permission you brought forth the dead. And remember when I restrained the Children of Israel from you (when they resolved to kill you) as you came unto them with clear proofs, and the disbelievers among them said: This is nothing but evident magic.  (Qur’an 5:110)

Magic was widespread among old Egyptians; so Allah sent Moses to them and supported him with miracles that nullified their magic. There are many verses in the Qur’an that mention Moses’ miracles.

Then [Moses] threw his stick and it became a manifest serpent. And he drew out his hand, and it was white for the beholders. (Qur’an 7:107-108)

Embryology in the Qur’an

Embryology in the Qur’an

By Editorial Staff

Almighty Allah has severely censured some people who followed their own inclinations in dealing with the Qur’an; whatever they liked they believed in, and whatever they disliked they rejected totally. Those people are menaced with severe punishment in the worldly life and the world to come. God says,

So do you believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve in part? Then what is the recompense for those who do that among you except disgrace in worldly life; and on the Day of Resurrection they will be sent back to the severest of punishment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. (Al-Baqarah 2:85)

Actually, this is the case of some atheists and non-Muslims in general currently. Although they doubt not many of the scientific miracles of the Qur’an, they find it so hard to admit the other moral, creedal, juristic, linguistic, historic, etc. miracles that are not less significant than the scientific miracles proved true by science and so early presented by the Qur’an. The above verse touches on this clear contradiction which ensues from the lack of desire to submission to God, the Creator.

The below video discusses one of the scientific miracles of the Qur’an that handled the issue of the early stages of the creation of man. It is about embryology and how the Qur’an depicted it. Enjoy watching this video to know more about how the Qur’an talked about embryology and how it described the creation of man inside his mother’s womb.
